PALO ALTO HISTORIC RESIDENCE

PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA

D’Elia Construction was entrusted with the restoration and interior update of this historical Palo Alto home. Built in 1929, historically significant residences like these contribute character, a sense of place and value to their communities. D’Elia Construction had the skill and care to bring modern comfort to this five bedroom three and a half bath, 3,100 square foot home, while preserving its turn of the century charm and heritage.

Finding balance was key during this renovation; bringing a tasteful sense of modernity to the inherent elegance of this residential landmark. The owners wanted to preserve many of the original fixtures; door handles and locks while also updating the property throughout. Restoration of the original double hung windows preserved the home’s architectural history. The project also included the restoration of all interior one-inch thick doors.

The modern contributions to this home were all aimed to enhance the comfort, ease, and safety of the owners. The home is now fully-equipped with security cameras and alarm system. One of the more technical features D’Elia was tasked with executing was a new residential elevator. The updated kitchen now features a simple elegant tile pattern, marble countertops and kitchen island that were triple sealed to ensure longevity. The kitchen includes: custom Viking refrigerator, Bosch Dishwasher, and a Wolf Double Oven with accompanying four burner stove and custom made stainless steel hood. Custom cabinets with rollout shelves were installed throughout kitchen; the cabinets have solid brass handles with crystal accent knobs. Rohl fixtures and faucets were used throughout the kitchen and bathrooms of the home. And the exterior bathroom window panes were replaced with hammered panes of glass. A custom entertainment center was added just off the kitchen. The attention to detail in this restoration is unmatched.
